Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and 4th grade! I hope you are as excited as I am about this upcoming year! I am looking forward to being your child's teacher and very eager to begin my ninth year of teaching in Monroe. This is a special year for me as I am working toward earning National Board Certification, along with two other teachers at our school! I continue to work hard to create a safe and fun learning environment that will motivate and inspire your child to do his or her best.
In fourth grade, we will build our math knowledge in multiplication and division, as well as problem solving and number sense. We will explore water, rocks and minerals, and the human body in science. In social studies, we will learn about the Northwest Coastal Native Americans and Washington State. We will also be focusing on writing through the six traits and continuing our Reading Street curriculum. It is a year full of learning!
Please check this blog weekly, as it is my goal to use this as a communication tool by updating it at the end of each week.
